Owning an AFCH gives you the opportunity to provide a helping hand and happy home to disabled people in your community. An AFCH is a full-time family type living arrangement in a private home. The licensee is required to own/lease the home and also live in the home with the residents. An AFCH provider can offer services for up to five (5) disabled adults including frail elders. “Home Is Where The Heart Is”… and Independent Care of Florida is here to help you open your heart and provide a home for someone in need.

Independent Care of Florida offers first-hand training experiences and real-life examples that prepare future AFCH owners for growth and success in the industry. Students will not only receive their certification, but also step-by-step instructions that will make owning an AFCH a seamless process.

Von Stephens-Oatman has 30 years of training experience with a Fortune 500 company and 7 years of experience owning an AFCH. She previously served as a Board Member of the Florida Assisted Living Association as Director of Adult Family Care Homes. She now currently serves as an active member.

The Core Values for the training program are to ensure that every student receives quality training that allows them to uphold the state laws as an AFCH owner and to provide exceptional professional care for their residents. The care that an AFCH owner offers their residents is a direct reflection of their level of excellence!
